So far this unit is basic memorizing equations, and plug and chug problems. I am very nervous to be missing the next two days in class for AP testing, but I am optimistic if the next few days are similar to what we have been doing in class I will be okay.

today we did an airbag lab in class and I was really nervous. we had to make sure we used the correct amount of baking soda and vinegar to fill our bag enough that when she touched it, her fingers would not touch, but not to much or the airbag would explode. I was really nervous I would not pass the lab. Here are some cool lab pictures.

I am really enjoying this unit. So far I only need to know a few simple equations to do well in this unit. Here are helpful pictures if all the equations I've learned so far!


above is charles law, where you are given your volumes and temperatures to solve.

below is boyles law. It is when you are given pressure and volume.



instead of memorizing these individually, i memorize this large equation and cross out everything i dont use.




We also just learned this equation, which at first I was nervous about, but I am realizing it is not to hard.

this is a really cool cycle of bio diesel to demonstrate how important it is to our envionrment

this picture was from when we tested different oils in class to see how fast they rolled down a plastic slit. 

this picture was right after mikayla and I made our bio diesel so it has not yet separated itsef and is all the same color.

over all, I really enjoyed this unit. I really liked the lab where we out together our own lewis structures. I was really good at need have share, sometimes i would just get confused on the octet rule or get tripped up on simple things. All in all i can defiantly tell we are on the downhill slope of this class and i am really looking forward to succeeded in 4th quarter to raise my grade!

Last night I went to tutoring and I am feeling rather overwhelmed. I missed three days of this unit because I am sick and I am very nervous to trying to learn all of my work.

today we learned our last unit before the test and it seems fair simple. It is mostly just memorizing trends that go with the periodic table. It doesn't really require any math or weird thinking so I think I can do good on our test.

I got an 80% on my quiz! This is my best quiz grade since 1st quarter! I am very excited because we only learn one more lecture before the test and i think i can do very well on this test and recover my grade!

Today we did another lab and it was very simple. we plugged different colors of this liquid into a machine and let the machine do all the work. It required very little thinking and i=I am feeling confident moving into our quiz.

today we did this super cool lab in class and i actually passed the pre lab all by myself! We got to light different chemicals with the bunsen burner and they turned different colors because of their different wavelengths!

Today was day one of electron structure and I am Actually really enjoying this unit. It seems fairly simple, just a lot of memory work with little exceptions. I am really looking forward to rebounding my grade after acids and bases.

I took my quiz this morning and didn't do very well. Frankenburg went over everything I missed today and it was mostly definition questions. I need to go over the basics before the test. I did get every single ICE box question right so i hope there is a lot of those on the test.

Today we did a lab very similar to our last one expect we were titrating an unknown acid. We had to heat up the acid in the water to get it to dissolve. This acid was different in that eventually it went all the way back to clear making it very hard to get a good percent error.

Today we did a lab. I surprisingly passed the pre-lab quiz. I really like this lab. Its a ton of fun and really cool. We are tritrating KHP with a base of NaOH and turning it a light pink color. Its really difficult to add the exact amount of base to turn the KHP light pink and not dark pink. one drop could ruin your lab. This made the lab hard but fun.

This was only the second day in the unit but it doesn't seem completely impossible yet. I am nervous to  leave tomorrow. We have a quiz I am missing on Monday but i think it shouldn't be too bad. Here is a cool picture of things we've been learning.

On the first day of the unit I didn't feel too lost. mostly naming and concepts. I really enjoy the lecture supplement because I can focus on what she is saying, not copying everything down. I am nervous for the rest of the unit but i am going to try to stay on top of things because I am going to be out a lot for dance.

today I actually finished the lab paper in class and kind of understand what we are doing. tonight Evan is coming over to finish our murder mystery lab and I hope that we can get that right answer even with our percent error.

today's lab was cool. I've never written my own procedure so I didn't really have much written down at first besides my 4 double replacement reactions. after a little bit I wrote our procedure and we went back into lab. Evan and I messed up the filter paper so we lost a lot of product. but I think we might be okay.
