stoichiometry post 5

this was our last day in lab. the copper is a super cool color today and I am anxious to do the calculations to see what happens!

stoichiometry post 4

these are super cool pictures from today's lab! the transformation was amazing! I took pictures of the trough because I had never used one in lab before! the copper was super cool and the nail was completely changed! the mass was way lower! over all it's defiantly my favorite lab so far!

stoichiometry post 3

today's lab was very easy and short and super cool! these are a few pictures of today's lab! I can't wait to finish and see what happens to the nail!

stoichiometry post 2

today's lesson I really liked!! it's mostly math which I think if I study the formula I will do well on. I am going to study a lot this weekend for the test especially since I have practice cancelled. I think I did poorly on the quiz but I could do better on the test.

stoichiometry

I actually understand what's going on in today's lesson. I understood Friday's lesson too! I think if I do the practice problems and suggested homework I have a good chance at doing well on the quiz tomorrow.

chemical reactions post 12

this was from the lab we did yesterday, and I actually really enjoyed it. the reactions were bigger then the previous lab. some smoked and bubbled and fizzled. I went to tutoring last night and we worked through some of the lab equations of the reactions and things are starting to make more sense. I hope I can continue to study and do well on this test.

chemical reaction post 6

today I thought was the hardest lesson we have learned. I really struggled with it and I stink at memorization so I am very nervous to take this test when we come back from break. I still don't know how well the quiz went yet.

chemical reactions post 4

I thought the quiz today was not that bad. I voted for longer quizzes and so did most kids I asked, but I actually found the shorter quiz to be a lot easier. I am very nervous for the lesson tomorrow because it's supposed to be ground breaking.

chemical reactions post 3

I am feeling much better with today's lesson. It was easier then yesterday's and I seem to understand what we are doing. I am excited for the lab and fingers crossed that this is the first lab I actually I get to do and pass the pre lab quiz! as long as I don't get tripped up with the solubility rules

chemical reactions post 2

well, this unit is very confusing and I Amir very optimistic I will do well. it is just a lot to take in. I finally got what we were doing today in double replacements, it just took me all hour. I am very nervous to memorize all the rules for soulubility.

chemical reactions post 1

today was our first day of chemical reactions! I like this unit because THERE IS NO MATH! It is mostly a review from freshman year, which although I don't remember it, it isn't to bad. I am looking forward to the lab on Friday, hopefully I can pass the pre lab quiz!

chemical composition post 15

this picture i enjoyed because it is a hydrated compound but its the exact same example we had in class!! It really helped tie it into the lesson!

chemical composition post 14

these are hofbrincl's and they are easy to forget. The acronym makes it easier but this picture shows them in a shape of a 7 to highlight them.

chemical composition post 13

This is just a basic example of molar mass, overall molar mass is very simple similar to the example above

chemical composition 12

This is a simple picture, but on the quiz I tried using 6.23 instead of 6.02 so this is just an extra reminder

chemical composition post 4

Today is a blog day, it is much needed. I adjusted some thing on my blog and I think I am starting to get the hang of blogging. We have a test on Monday and I need to do some studying over the weekend because my last quiz did not go to well.

chemical composition post 3

today we did a lab, I didn't pass the pre lab test but I actually worked hard with the data given to me on my notecard and found this class period to beextremely beneficial   and I understand conversions more and more each day!

chemical composition post 2

Today we did a lab similar to demensional analysis but with moles as measurement! supeisingly I understand this stuff a lot more then normal demensional analysis! I got all of my problems right on the lab and I am going to study so I get a better grade on this upcoming test!

chemical composition post 1

I found the pre test to be hard, granted I haven't learned this material yet. I recognized moles I just wasn't sure what to really do with them. this unit looks like a lot of math and I am excited for that for I tend to do well with math. over all I am excited to start a new unit. I noticed we have a lab coming up and this time no pre lab quiz to hold me back!

matter and measurement post 11

This is just the rules I looked at before the test on sig figs to really drill it in so i didnt make a silly mistake on a zero.
sig fig rules

matter and measurement post 10

We were kind of rushed during class and didn't get to go ever temperature conversions very thoroughly but this chart really helped things to click.

matter and measurement post 9

This video and practice problems really helped me enforce the whole idea of density conversions

matter and measurement post 8

This conversion chart helped me at the beginning of my project until frankenburg posted one on her blog, then i just used this as a study tool

matter and measurement post 7

This was the website I found on sig figs before the quiz. It really helped me! my mistake was not visiting it before our test.

matter and measurement post 6

This is a link on solids liquids and gases. It really helped me understand before we took the quiz.

matter and measurement post 5

All in All i really enjoyed this unit for chemistry. It was something I could understand through the lesson and actually something i thought i would use later on in life. Conversions i would say i have down pat, i only sometimes struggle with density and volume.

matter and measurement post 4

I finished making my treat for tomorrow! And today was the test, I originally felt very confident on my test but thinking back on it I realized I made very simple mistakes, that are very frustrating. Oh well, at least my cupcakes are cute and halloween ish.

matter and measurement 3

I am very nervous for my test tomorrow, but I am semi distracted because I am having lots of fun making my special treat and converting standard measurements to metric measurements for class on friday! It is defiantly helping my re-enforce conversion for my test tomorrow.

Matter and Measurement 2

I Love learning about solid liquids and gases because it is very easy and a beautiful break from some complicating chemistry. Solids liquids gases are all review but I am learning about their dimensional analysis which is a fun interesting change to something new I have never done.

Atomic structure and radio activity post 11

These are some cool links that really helped me during this unit to just go over everything and tie it all together!

Alpha Beta Gama decay
half lives
Daltons atomic theory
proton neutron and electron count
mass percentage abundance formula
decay and half life

Atomic structure and radioactivity post 8

Today we learned about half-lives and i finally learned that in half lives nothing disappears the half life represents the part that is still radioactive, but nothing actually goes away like I originally thought. This is the picture of us in lab today. We cut up lots of pieces of paper and dumped them out. The ones landing on colored side were the ones that were radioactive. The white ones were the decayed ones. We continued this process multiple times.

atomic structure and radioactivity post 9

This is a picture of a lab we did in class. We learned about radioactivity. We cut up lots of squares of paper one side was colored and one was white. When we shook them up and dumped them out, the yellow represented the ones tht decayed. It was very fun and really helped me understand half life. the only draw back was having to cut out all those squares. it took forever!

Atomic structure and radioactivity post 10

well..... that was an interesting test. I felt like i knew all the alpha gama abd beta decays. The graphs were very easy and so was the nomenclature. I found out i really struggle with half lifes and i definatly need to study that for next time.

Atomic structure and radioactivity post 7

Some fun lab pictures! The calculator for caculations the scale for mass and the beanium!

Atomic structure and radioactivity post 6

I actually understand everything i am doing in chemistry right now. I enjoy the the math part of the lessons we are doing and i think its relativley easy. I am excited for the lab tomorrow and cant wait ti pass this pre lab quiz.

Atomic structure and radioactivity post 5

I think the test went pretty well. It was easier then i thought it would be. I studied my notes and the lab questions really tied everything together. I think  I finally understand why we did the lab with the circles was because we were demonstrating rutherfords theory of bouncing thing off to find the nucleus. #yay learning :)

Atomic Stucture and radioactivity post 4

I passed my pre-lab quiz today which I was extremly nervous about, and after a day in lab I understand the way the formula works and how to work out these types of problems! I also now know was an isotope is for the first time ever and ive never really known. I enjoyed this lab and had lots of fun with the calculations, i am anxious to see what else this unit has instore. I am rather nervous for the quiz tomorrow not for the math but for knowing the different theories. I am studying tonight.

Atomic structure and radioavtivity post 3

I am feeling rather stressed after today's lesson. Lots of knowledge i need to study up on. But i think it will be fairly easy after i memorize it, and i had lots of fun doing the class paper and walking around in class and talking to everyone.

Atomic Structure and Radioactivity 2

I am very excited to see what this unit has in store because I really enjoyed the lab yesterday. I wasn't very good at the lab but I really enjoyed the lab. I am anxious to see how the lab ties into our unit and what it has to do with Atomic Structure and Radioactivity. I am also very excited to go out with the class and look through the telescope to see outerspace! I look at stars a lot and I am excited to actually be able to identify things in the sky after this unit.

Automic structure and radioactivity 1

I am very excited and nervous for this unit. I didnt know almost anything on the pre-test so i definatly have a lot of ground to learn, but I enjoy math  so the work with graphs and calculators seems fun.

nomenclature post 2

I enjoy naming type 3 nomenclature better then type one and two because I found it the easiest to remember and with the least strings attached. I tend to struggle with type 2 more because I tend to forget all the rules in naming. I also enjoyed naming acids and found that fun and fairly simple.

nomenclature post 1

I really enjoyed the frontier chemistry project, I went to bush wildlife with my family and took lots of pictures. I also went on a road trip to see my brother this weekend and we had some fun identifying plants on the road along the way.
